Brief restatement of vision:
Council of Forfedhdar represents the common interests, unlike (yet similar to) the Forfedhdar Conclave which is the governmental representation (Conclave represents governments, which represent the people. Council directly represents the people, and represents the Conclave.. I hope thats clear :P )
I think election to positions would occur in two stages. First would be nomination to the position, followed by a vote if more than one person were nominated. Either that or selection by decree.
All positions are held equal, but the Seer is the leader of the Council.

Council Positions:
1) Council Seer:
All Councils need a wise man to sit upon them. Even better is one who can harness the forces of magic to assist the land. To this end, the Seer advises the Council on magical issues, in addition to providing guidance and advice to its members. The Seer is first amongst equals and leads the Council.
Duties: Chief liaison to the Arid Steppe; Sets agenda when present; Provides guidance on issues of magic to the Province.
Requirements: Magic primary, preference towards Moon Mage.
2) Council Cleric:
Forfedhdar is also a highly religious province, with many shrines, monasteries, and temples. Primary in Forfedhdar are the temples to Kertigen and Asketi, as well as the deities represented at the Monastery. Representing the peoples religious interests would fall to the Council Cleric.
Duties: Chief liaison to the Temples; Maintaining altars; Providing guidance on religious issues.
Requirements: Highly religious, preference towards Cleric.
3) Council Commander:
The Council Commanders primary concern is coordinating the defense of Forfedhdar and ensuring the safety of travelers within the province. They will serve as the liaison to foreign military and the Councils contact with the Ravens Brigade when it is active.
Duties: Chief liaison to Ravens Point; Performing military liaison duties; Advising the Council regarding allowing foreign military organizations within Forfedhdar.
4) Council Advisor:
The Council Advisor is the voice to other lands. They will work with other lands ambassadors, as well as serve as an ambassador to other lands. This position is also the catch-all for other duties not ascribed to other positions.
Duties: Traveling to other lands; Receiving ambassadors; Promoting Forfedhdar
4) Council Lorekeeper:
The Lorekeeper keeps the records of Forfedhdar and the Council. They have all received at least some degree of training from the Bardic Academy at Kwarlog.
Duties: Recordkeeping for the Council; Researching; Creating cultural things related to Forfedhdar
Requirements: Bard, or highly advanced in multiple instruments.
OOC note The person would have to have history somehow tying them in to the Bardic Academy at Kwarlog. It is discussed as the first dwarven Bard school, yet it is so quiet! Kinda a personal issue Id like to have someone correct
5) Council Trademaster (best title I could come up with sorry.)
Trade is, has, and always will be important to Forfedhdar. The Trademaster serves as their voice to the Council. They will promote merchants abroad and help secure advantageous trade deals, help maintain roads and trade routes, and the like.
Duties: Promoting trade in Forfedhdar; Running Hibarnhvidar market days
Requirements: Trader ideally, or anyone highly interested in trade.

Ok, for my thoughts on this subject about the council members. I understand the reason for the seer being the head of the council, but I think that it should be open to anyone for leader, not just magic based. If a good qualified leader is to show up, then so be it. Maybe make it the "Council Leader" or something along those lines for the title.
ReplyDeleteI do agree for having a seer though, same thing with a cleric. Every council needs two different view points, and since that seems to be the two most extreme viewpoints right now, that would be great that they held equal positions.
The advisor position on the council sounds perfect, plus it would be a good place to have a non cleric/moon mage step up to the plate for another place that sends advice up to the top.
As for Trademaster... The idea is good... The title isn't the greatest as you said, but i'm having a hell of a time figuring out a good one, but I do like the idea for his position.
As for other positions, everything else sounds great, but I would suggest trying to come up with some more positions that aren't going to be guild based or skill based. The more open positions that we have, the more people will want to join us. If we limit ourselves to positions that have prereqs, no one will really want to even try and thus discouragement would arise.
I personally think also along those lines, we should not limit the positions to race at all. Elf/Tog/Dwarf/Human/Gnome, it doesn't matter, if they are living in the Hib area, they should have a chance to get a voice.
Citizenship should be a requirement if anything to be part of the council, and so we have a way to check it, they have to have it displayed on their PROFILE, that way its displayed for everyone to see...
Ok, I think I'm good for now.

Council Cleric perhaps Council Triage Leader would work best instead. Just a thought
